I have been asked to do a neck reset on a Fender acoustic Gemini II. These guitars were imported from Korea , late 70's, early 80's and stamped with Fender's name. However, I don't have any info on the type of neck to body joint on this guitar. There are no visible bolts so it would appear to be either a dovetail or mortise and tenon. Has anyone had any experience with this type of adjustment on a guitar like this? Would appreciate any info. Thanks.

Most guitars of this age from Korea are not well made, to put it mildly. I would expect glued dowels.

Some import guitars can't even be reset... I tried steaming one and after several minutes of steam the joint would not budge.

Thanks guys. Hmmm. That's what I was thinking too after some further investigation. Think, I'll probably pass on this one. Tell the owner a neck reset will cost more than the guitar is worth.

Saw through the neck joint and convert it to a bolt-on neck.
